About The Photographer
- Nada Nekrep { Half Moon Bay Photographer }
- I have been taking photographs all my life. At age 10, I borrowed my father's old Pentax camera and headed out to the fields. I took my first photography class a year after under the guidance of a documentary filmmaker, developed my first B&W photo and was hooked. I have never stopped "thinking in frames" since. I pursued a career in science that trained me to be thorough, precise, patient. But photography remained my passion and I am only truly happy when behind the camera.

{ 3rd Annual New Year's Giveaway! }
Although I am blown away that we are (again!) well into January of a brand new year, I am so excited to present the New Year's Giveaway! Two photo sessions will be awarded to Facebook friends/fans, so if you haven't liked my Facebook page, please take a moment and do this first.
{ The Idea !!}
This year, I am linking Giveaway with a fun project. I want to invite you to come shoot with me! Not literally, though. You and I will both be working on a personal photo project and be in touch via FB and e-mail.
What kind of photo project?
Well, we will be photographing something special and exciting in our day-to-day life.
Your response might be: "But I am already taking all kinds of pictures of my family and things and places that I like."
That is true. But how many of these pictures are random snapshots that don't really fit anywhere? How many actually see the light of day? How many are being printed? And how many buried somewhere in the darkness of our computer hard drives?
Here is my proposal. Let's pick a personal photo project (read below for ideas) and work on it for one month. Then, at the end of the month, select our favorite images, print them and file them in a simple 5x7 mini album.
This project has multiple positives:
{ Simple } { Requires little time } { Focused } { Inexpensive } { FUN ! }
And best of all, at the end of the month, you will have an organized collection of memories about something special happening in your life! And who knows...maybe after doing a few monthly projects you will feel ready to take on a daunting task of organizing your old photos!
{ Hey, I like that. How do I enter? }
There is no need to sign up. We will begin in February. All you need to do is select your personal photo project. Photograph to your heart's content during the month of February. During the last week, pull the images together and select your favorites. I will be sending reminders via FB so make sure that you "like" the page. And since FB is tricky and you might not always see my posts, make sure you have it bookmarked so you can easily check what's happening on the site.
{ Is there something special you want me to do? }
Yes! Please, share my FB posts on your wall and invite your FB friends to join.
I would love to be able to reach out to as many photography lovers as possible. I am sure they will greatly appreciate creating beautiful memories for themselves, their families and friends!
{ And the Giveaway? }
Twice during 2013, I will award a FREE PHOTO SESSION to one of the participants.
After you've completed your monthly photo project, e-mail me 3-5 favorite images and you will automatically be entered into a drawing.
Every monthly project counts as one entry. You can only photograph for one month...or every month! More projects, more chances to win! And larger your collection of printed memories!
The first round of projects will go on for 5 months { February~June } with the first drawing in July. I will then randomly select 2 participants who e-mailed their pictures. The winner will be the one who shared my FB postings more frequently.
{ OK. So how do I select a good Personal Photo Project?? }
The answer is quite simple. Choose whatever moves you. If you have children, the project will most likely document their activities, achievements, milestones etc. My little boy will be walking within the next month so guess what my February project will be?! ;-)
If you don't have kids...well, document YOUR life! You must be working on an exciting project or doing a fun activity. Wouldn't it be nice to have a tiny album with 25 favorite images to document that?
After brainstorming this project with a few friends, here are some projects they will be doing:
{ Water adventures &learning to swim}
{ First Recipes in the family kitchen }
{ Soccer with buddies in the park }
{ Favorite toys at 1 year old }
{ My toddler's goofy smiles! }
{ Our spring adventure to Costa Rica }
{ My first vegetable garden }
{ Colorful doors of my neighbourhood }
{ Our new puppy in obedience school }
{ Cool &funky details from my workplace }
{ Food Diary of the month! }
{ Weekend wanderings }
The possibilities are endless... Just think about what kind of mini album you would like to have in your hands one year from now!
Thank you for reading through my ramblings ;-)
I can't wait to hear what you are yourking on!! I am so excited to be doing this with you.
Happy Shooting!
Nada
